Building Product Teams at Leen Menken Foodservice Logistics

Leen Menken Foodservice Logistics helps food companies grow by ensuring that refrigerated and frozen products move reliably through the supply chain. As the company expanded, leadership aimed to improve teamwork to enhance customer service. The challenge: how to organize teams to own customer value?

Designing a product team structure

Together with the leadership team, we designed a new organizational structure based on Product Teams. Each team focuses on a specific customer group and service offering, bringing together diverse capabilities to deliver value to customers rather than working in functional silos.

The result: 5 cross-functional teams with shared responsibility for results. This structure enabled teams to collaborate more efficiently, better align with business goals, and respond more quickly to market changes.

Creating focus with a new rhythm

To ensure the new structure functioned effectively, we introduced a trimester goal-setting rhythm.

Every 4 months, teams define their most important priorities and outcomes. This creates clarity about what matters most and helps teams align their efforts. Each team works toward a small number of shared goals.

Starting the new teams together

The transition began with an inspiring kick-off day, during which the new Product Teams were launched. During this day:

•     Teams clarified their purpose and customer focus

•     Defined their first trimester goals

•     Aligned expectations for collaboration

This moment marked the start of a new way of working.

Supporting the transition

In the months that followed, we coached the teams and the management team as they settled into the new structure. This support focused on:

•     strengthening collaboration within the Product Teams

•     helping teams work effectively with their goals and their new MS Planner setup

•     aligning the teams and the management team on priorities and decisions

The end result

Leen Menken now operates with customer-focused, cross-functional teams that can take true ownership over delivering tailored value. These teams respond more rapidly to customer needs and are empowered to improve service quality and efficiency.

This transformation sets the stage for ongoing growth and positions Leen Menken to continually raise the standard for customer-focused logistics innovation.
